John opened Jambo in 2020 with a simple vision — to create a place where neighbours become friends and every meal feels like a celebration. Whether you are here for a hearty meal, a cold drink with friends, or a quiet evening out, our team is dedicated to making every visit special.

“Cooking is my soul’s language. Every dish I create carries the flavours of my grandmother’s kitchen in Jinja — passed down, perfected, and served with pride.”
Chef David brings over 15 years of culinary experience to Jambo Bar and Restaurant. After training at Kampala’s finest kitchens and travelling across East Africa to study regional cuisines, he returned to Makindye with a mission: to create a place where every meal feels like Sunday lunch at home.
From the slow-grilled nyama chona to the perfect Rolex roll, Chef David personally oversees every dish that leaves the kitchen. His philosophy is simple — fresh ingredients, bold flavours, and a plate that tells a story.
